Dr Vincent MONTEIL CV (.pdf)

Area(s) of Research

  • Development of polymerization catalysts (organometallic chemistry)

  • Conventional Ziegler-Natta polymerization of olefins

  • Catalytic homo- and copolymerizations of olefins

  • Synthesis of new polymers (functional polyolefins)

  • Innovative polymerization chemistries

  • Catalysis for polycondensations (silicones...)

Degrees

  • French “Ingénieur” Diploma in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering - CPE Lyon (1999)

  • Master in Catalysis and Physical Chemistry of Interfaces of the Claude Bernard University of Lyon (1999)

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Claude Bernard University of Lyon (2002).

  • Habilitation, Claude Bernard University of Lyon (2012).

Research Interests

The main activity of the research group is the synthesis of functional polyolefins. To achieve this goal, one of the most challenging reactions in polymer chemistry is investigated in the group: the copolymerization of olefins and polar monomers (such as acrylates, vinyl acetate…). In particular, this work implies the development of well-defined catalysts to control the (co)polymer microstructure and to access to new polymers. Other fields of research are 1) the synthesis of polyolefins by conventional Ziegler-Natta polymerization of olefins with the aim to obtain a "single site behavior "of the catalysts 2) the study of nascent catalytic polymerizations with stopped flow reactors 3) the developpment of new catalysts for silicone and polyesters synthesis. The field of our activities is broad, from organometallic chemistry to polymer synthesis and characterization.

Current Projects

  • Functional polyolefins

  • Homo- and copolymerizations of olefins and polar monomers

  • Conventional Ziegler-Natta (co)polymerization of olefins

  • Chemical engineering and chemistry of nascent catalytic polymerizations

  • Catalysis for silicone condensation and polyesters synthesis

Responsabilities

French Polymer Group (GFP) Administrator (2008-2014) - Local section GFP Rhône Alpes - Auvergne (RAA) President (2012- )
